R. Linda:
Here I be having a bad burger from the local fast food establishment and suffering for it by bringing up me cookies and then being subject to stabbing pains in the abdomen. I was sweaty and dehydrated, so I had me a cup of Bewley's and off to me bed I went, chills setting in.
I tossed and turned and the wife decided she would get the guest room made up and sleep in there so as not to be kept awake by me misery. Alone I tried to get meself back to sleep to escape it all, when suddenly there was a flash in the window to me left. I laid there for another few minutes when again, there was a flash in the left window. Me mind was telling me it was highly unusual for lightning to be flashing in only one window. I sat meself up forgetting me misery and waited. There it was again in the left window, a huge flash of light and nothing in the other two on me right. Well, this confounded yours truly and so I got meself up and went to the left window and looked out. There was no moonlight, nor starlight, nor any lights. I don't have neighbours where you can see their homes lit up at night. Strange I thought and looked around when suddenly there was another flash right in me face and I jumped back thinking I could be electrocuted.
There was no sound of thunder, no rumble of anything but me stomach. I started to count the flashes and they were not evenly timed, no doubt about it. Was Weasil outside me window with a torch flashing it on and off to get me attention? He is such I would not put it past him to do such. I craned me neck and saw no one. I thought I should go get Tonya, she might go outside and see if the light on the end of the house was sparking from a short and we needed to do this before the whole house was set ablaze.
But then it was midnight and I know me Tonya and being awakened from a deep sleep isn't a wise thing. She'd only say, "You're the man, YOU go look." I sighed, perplexed and baffled and then there it was again -- FLASH! I bent me head and neck to try to see the corner of the house where the outdoor light was, to see if it was sparking or flashing or something, but I could see nothing but darkness. Suddenly the flash came again, this time rather immediate and I thought it was a faery light or as you call them here, twinkle light. We don't have twinkle lights attached to the second story of our house. As it stands, we don't have any twinkle lights at all. Who would put a twinkle light, just one on the side of me house and how were they working it? Oh yes, I was shaking me head thinking the single name WEASIL. But as I moved back I noticed from the corner of me eye, a glowing twinkle light, much like the old fashioned flash bulbs in cameras, that flash big and bright, then it fades and a ghost of a light remains until it dies entirely. To me horror the twinkle light started to move, when I realised what a dolt I was. It was a lightning bug. Yes, it had got in-between the window and the storm window and there it would light itself up and with the reflection of glass on both sides, it made a huge flash like lightning. THAT was me light.
You don't know how glad I be I did not wake up me sleeping Tonya. I haven't told her this because I'd not hear the end of it. Though I plead temporary insanity from me food poisoned state.
