Me first E-Bay experience

R. Linda:

Here be a story for you. Yours truly going on e-bay to buy a lady in a sleigh portrait for the wife for Mother's Day. Yes, she wants an old fashioned picture called Smart Turnout, artist unknown. I found it! On me first try of searching up it came and only one. The print place I googled wanted $149.00 framed. ONLY I couldn't buy it framed because the wife has this very special country-like frame she wants to have it put in. Well, ok I say and off to e-bay I go figuring if I can't find it there it will cost me the $149.00 (why not round it off to $150?) and I'll punch out the picture and get rid of the frame and say, HERE WE GO. Yup.

So back to me finding the thing on e-bay. Now there is a Buy It Now on this picture at $119.00 (why not $120?) and so I click the Buy It Now and go through the procedure I read about the instant Paypal payment and I type in the shipping ($10.00 an even amount to throw me off maybe?) and the insurance be optional and another $10.00 and I be thinking I be paying almost what the other one FRAMED would cost. Begorrah!!!

Then I remember underneath the sleigh picture was another. I saw this small print of a turkey (something me Ton had told me about but was outbid on many months ago) being offered by the same seller. So I get out of the Pay Now and go click on the turkey and get that because it be a Buy It Now. The turkey is only $49.00 (why not $50?) and why not combine the $10.00 shipping with the other one. So, I don't pay for that either and I contact the seller and say to him/her can we combine the shipping and handling on the two together?

About three hours later, I get this cryptic e-bay letter from the seller saying PAY UP. Underneath that is the amount of the first picture (sleigh) with shipping that now totals $16.00 and the other picture (turkey) with the $10.00 amount shipping. Two individual invoices. I be stymied at the $16.00. So, I fire back what be the extra $6.00 charge for, is it the insurance because I didn't click on THAT. If it is shipping for both pictures, which I believe it is, please issue one invoice. I get this:

YO YO YO YOU ASKED TO COMBINE THE SHIPPING === THE 16.00 IS THE SHIPPING FOR 2 ITEMS ????????????

I thought maybe the seller was Weasil in disguise, I did. Well, no I write back, "you are still charging me $10.00 shipping for the smaller picture which means instead of me paying the original $20.00 shipping on both, or even the combined shipping of $16.00 for both, I be now paying $26.00. Please send me one invoice for both AT COMBINED SHIPPING AT $16.00 and I'll pay immediately you correct this problem." I couldn't pay the $16.00 on both because I had 2 invoices for different amounts. I was wondering what his or her problem was.

The next day I get this:

sorry the boss says we can't combine shipping thank you

WHAT??????? I be like what just happened? First this person is combining shipping, then overcharging, now rescinding. I decided to look up their feedback, something I should have done before I purchased. The feedback was 99.4. Well, not too bad, but the feedback said things like:

"Reported this person to e-bay for excessive shipping on items weighing less than chargeable weight limits.

Response: "person is brain dead should hav read description befor buying

AND THIS:

"Seller told me the real seller was on vacation. I waited to hear from "real seller" never did. Item was sent in pieces, seller did nothing to reimburse me cost of damage and it was INSURED

Response: "damage probably as a result of buyer's carelessness. item packde great. don't do business with this buyer, read there feedback disgusting

I did, I went and read the last buyer's feedback and he scored 99.8 and that was as a result of this seller's feedback! I was horrified.

I wrote the seller back and said, how could you tell me I had combined shipping and then take it back that is against e-bay policy. This is what I got.

I only work here and do not have the paypal password when serina [whos on vacation] comesback on thursday she will send you one. otherwise I told you how to pay=you have our invoice   thank you

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ON VACATION. Just like the poor flippers feedback I get the same bloody thing! I felt doomed.

I was so convinced I was dealing with Weasil, I rang him up. He swore up and down he wasn't selling anything especially "dumbarse piccies" on e-bay. I sort of believe him. And who the heck is Serina and who the heck am I dealing with in her place? I didn't think there was a Serina and I thought this was some guy who couldn't spell and I had no clue what gender I was communicating with.

I had to battle six emails later, for the first amounts because this person or persons just wasn't going to honour their combined shipping promise. I would rather pay the $20.00 separate shipping than combine them for $26.00 I know what you are thinking and forget it. I  could have pushed it over to e-bay and brought this seller up on over shipping fees, telling me one thing and also (I didn't tell you this but IT wanted me to bypass e-bay altogether and just send funds via Paypal, another violation of e-bay rules and that without invoice), just me sending funds!

I paid IT through e-bay to get Ton's things and they came (get this) THE VERY NEXT DAY! Well, of course they would, I paid for overnight postage most like. Which brought me back to me suspicion of it being Weasil. How could items come from Ohio in one day if it wasn't overnighted? Did this person have their own overnight service or what? Luckily the pictures were in excellent condition, but the packing material was a VFW magazine, filled with pictures of guns you can buy and all kinds of military rah-rah. Was that to tell me this mysterious person is a brain damaged Vet who has a gun and if I give them bad feedback will not only destroy Ton's 100% positive feedback, but will come looking for me?

I told all this to Weasil, who told me the only person in Ohio he knows is Dee Dee. I know her too, and yup she can write like the seller and makes no sense like the seller. So now he's got me thinking this is her, someone I know. I be paranoid, I know I be sounding it, but wowey wow wow.
