R. Linda:
Well, the heat didn't stay away, but the thunderstorms did. So it was off to Boston proper for the best fireworks in the country! And this year they were even better (if that's possible) than before. We were invited by a friend who is a big deal in one of the companies that overlook the Charles River to sit in air-conditioned splendour to watch the show. This we did after a sumptuous dinner at Legal Seafood.
We had walked over to the Hat-Shell after dinner, where the Boston Pops were already belting out patriotic favourites. About the time we got there, Officer Richard Donohue was stepping up on stage to lead Keith Lockheart's Boston Pops Orchestra to the merry Irish music of the Dropkick Murphys, Shipping Up To Boston. What a lot of fun it was. There was plenty of Irish dancing going on, and we all joined in.
We decided to get to the air conditioning, though the heat had dissipated enough it wasn't uncomfortable being outside. But who could refuse a view overlooking the river! So off we went, only to find when we got up to the top floor, there were a few others with the very same idea. Joseph, being a big shot, could commandeer seating, but we let the wives and kiddos have the seats, and we opted to stand, allowing the other ladies about the place to have the seats. As time drew near to the fireworks, we had a crowd up there. I decided to leave for the river and wind around behind the Hat-Shell, where the view would be nothing short of fabulous. I left Tonya with one camera; I took the other, and off I went with another friend who had joined us, Tommy Donovan.
So here are some shots of the spectacular show to share with you. And hopefully, me video will load from my mobile phone. I have to put it in two parts (it be the finale) because I inadvertently hit the button before it was over. SIGH. But all is not lost the music can be heard on the video at least!

You know you are lucky I'm around. I could have (if I wanted to be mean) posted your "comment" tonight when Fiona was not online and where would you be? Can you be nice Weas? Easier would have been to email her! I noticed the spell check has got your weasilese, serves you right! AND why weren't you in your adopted city last night?
cus it aint biggie enuff fur da 2 a us hehee.
oh yeah fioner it aint shipping off it iz shipping up like in vertical gee-sums.
Love the videos. It was kind of cloudy last night, and because of the dry weather and fires, there weren't very many BIG firework shows! the neighborhood illegal stuff was going on all night and left the stench of sulfur. so I'm glad at least your family had a great time!
Thanks for the compliment. :)
Weasil, Hotel Ecuador? Really? Asausage? That last 'tis pretty funny considering what he's wanted for in Sweden.
Gabe, great pics. I would like that recording if it does exist, more my thing than Weasil's idea of the Amazing Race. Send it to Weasil and I'll find a way to get it from him. Thanks in advance.
Lucky I do have a recording of it. Just the recording no video, I put the mobile on the top of Tonya's purse so we could dance. I'll send to the young whippersnapper, good luck getting it from him.
Ohhh, that explains why we have a snarky Weasil on our hands today. If it was cloudy with no skyworks in Denver it was most likely cloudy with no skyworks out on that ridge in Steamboat he lives on. Oh tsk, tsk, LMAO.
Very nice photographs Gabe. I want that recording too, if you don't mind. It is a favourite of mine too.
I'd be happy to. I'll send to Weasil and let him send it because I don't know if I can send through the blog.
Sounds like soooo much fun! May I have a copy too? I would love to hear it :-)
Anyone else? LOL
Nah! I'll just show up on your doorstep and grab a copy in person.LMAO
Doncha dare bring that southwestern heat with you. The heat here be horrible. I thought I moved to New Hampshire and find I moved to Florida! The wife's gardens look like the Everglades between the rain, the heat, the humidity no kind of weather to weed. I told her to get scared she starts seeing alligators.
Well, it rained for about 30 minutes. I'll be flying out of D I A, later tonight.
Picking me up at the airport? LOL or do I have to walk?
If you haven't left yet, I be debating about making you walk, LOL. No, I'll be there.
Gabe, just looked at the photos and videos on my laptop as I only had my phone with me when you posted them. Fabulous I must say!
