R. Linda:
I experienced me first earthquake at 7:10 this night. Tonya and I were sitting in the kitchen eating our dinner when the entire house shook and rumbled. The cat took off and so did the dogs. We checked the house from the attic to the cellar and the structure seems fine. I called me old neighbour and he said he experienced it as well.
Turns out it was a 4.6 magnitude that happened in Portland, Maine and shocked out all the way to Dublin and Ringe, New Hampshire and as far north as Concord. Some phone lines are down it is said, but I don't know where that is. We are hoping for no aftershocks because we are quite a bit jarred (literally).
So far, no report of damage, but I have to tell you that was the strangest experience I've ever had in me life. It lasted for about 10 seconds and I thought the roof had come down and was crashing through the second story. On examination, all seems well. Let's hope it stays that way.
Here's the graphic of it.

OMG we got breaking news about this. i wrote you! write me back am concerned it sounds terrible. but you sound ok. i hope you are!
That is TOO scary!
Us too Cappy! Shake, rattle and roll with a loud boom! I thought the mast had come off the ship and crashed to the deck! Actually, we were in our house looking at a china cabinet door the first mate says I need to fix when there was a loud noise followed by movement of the house and the first mate's grandmother's crystal wine glasses started clinking. We' have rushed out but the first mate was too concerned about those glasses to move. She stood their looking green never mind the house might be falling down. Women mate, they have strange priorities.
We are fine. House is fine. Had a dead tree that came down was the only casualty. They now say it was a 4.0. Well, I don't want to know what a 4.1 be I can tell ya that.
