Story #1080
R. Linda:
Wednesday, the new neighbour's child, who is the same age as my youngest, was riding the school bus when a classmate made a remark that the boy took exception to. Within a flash the neighbour boy was up out of his seat and punched the offending child in the nose, causing it to bleed profusely. The bus driver had to pull over to minister to the bleeding, screaming child. This made for a report to the school over the incident, and the neighbour child and parents were called to the school office.
Embarrassed, the neighbour parents promised to keep things under control and take the proper steps for home punishment, which was no tablet and Minecraft for a month. The next day, after the school bus dropped a group off, a bigger kiddo approached the new neighbour boy and punched him in the nose! "That's for punching Freddie!"
Well, a nosebleed was in session, and the neighbour child went to the door of his abode, cleaning himself up as he went. But his sharp-eyed mum spied some dried blood on his shirt and, with a sinking heart, thought, Oh no, not again!
The child told her what happened, and this got her dander up, it did. But he cried and carried on and told her not to tell, let it go, and so on. She informed him his dad had to know and go to his room and read a book, they'd all discuss it later when his father was home.
He didn't read a book; instead, he climbed out of his bedroom window and ran down to the first kid's house, where he saw the child out back by himself swinging on the family swing set through the hedges. He shot out of the hedges like a bat out of hell and punched "Freddie" square in the nose again! Yes, there was blood and screaming and the neighbour child was off and home before his parent's phone rang with the news of renewed combat.
Mumsy found her boy sitting on his bed reading (or so it looked) like he'd never moved from the spot. Perplexed, she informed the woman on the other end of the phone that it could not have been her son. But it was. I didn't get all the particulars, but I know the school was informed again, and all three juveniles are in detention with parents on notice that a suspension will follow if they all don't shape up.
Hum, what are the chances of that?
